Interpuls means the interval between heartbeats. Pulse, rhythm and structure are building blocks of almost all art, especially minimalism. Yet just as much of the magic happens in the space between the beats.
Interpuls is Norway's only festival for minimalist music, first held in 2020. It is organised by Interpuls Ensemble, young professional musicians who play in, among others, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
We want to present classical and new music in a modern and informal way, bring new and younger audiences into the concert hall, and combine music with dance, video, text and visuals.

Interpuls Ensemble are the musicians who run the festival. At its core is a string quartet that has played together since 2008, formerly known as Quartetto Testosterone, with concerts ranging from Glass på dass to the Royal Palace and Carnegie Hall in New York.
Together with the percussionists of the duo PERCelleh, the quartet founded Interpuls in 2020. Today the ensemble is a musicians' collective with a permanent core and guest musicians as needed, from small to larger ensembles. The musicians programme the festival, play in it and produce it.

Daniel Lyngstad is a violinist in the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra and festival director of Interpuls. He also plays baroque violin, and founded and runs the website Live Klassisk.
