the space between the beats
A classical concert like you've never experienced one
Interpuls is an annual festival at Kulturkirken Jakob, created by musicians who live and breathe for sharing music.
Popcorn, an open bar, Persian rugs and hammocks, and visuals filling the whole church. Sit at a café table, lie on a rug close to the musicians, do yoga to live music after the morning rave, or comes and goes between short concert sets.

An evening at Interpuls

Concert pulses
Short sets of max. 30 minutes with breaks in between. Come and go, have a drink, talk, listen.

The room as stage
The whole church is used, from the tower to the crypt. Choose a chair, a café table or a rug close to the musicians.

Visuals
German artist Philipp Geist creates new projections for every piece on the church walls.

Morning rave and yoga
With Morning Beat we dance from 7 am, followed by a yoga concert with live music.

For all ages
A children's concert for the youngest, and pop-up concerts in public spaces.

New music
At least one new commission every year, alongside the classics of minimalism.

Almost 3,500 people have experienced Interpuls since 2020. Around half don't usually go to classical concerts, and two in three are under 50.
«I have never experienced anything like it, it was absolutely fantastic!»
«This is one of the finest cultural experiences I have ever had in Oslo.»
«It felt like I had found something really special, a kind of pearl.»
From the 2025 audience survey (translated)
Interpuls is one of the finest things cultural Oslo has to offer, and not only because they rethink classical music. It is because they are uncompromising on quality and curate extremely well.
